this is all the news you need to start your sunday, may 8th. abc-7’s “good morning el paso weekend” starts right now! good morning and thank you for joing us… i’m andrew j. polk. one teen is dead after a late night rollover in east el paso. it happened on the 13 thousand block of jobe rd. el paso sheriffs office say a jeep was traveleing southwest on jobe and for an unknown reason didn’t turn on a curve on the street causing the jeep to leave the street and rollover. deputies say 2 teen boys and 2 teen girls were in the car between 17 and 18 years old. one died at the scene and the other three were transported with minor injuries. the investigation is ongoing. infamous drug kingpin joaquin “el chapo” guzman is now right next door of el paso. he’s been transferred to a federal prison close to cd. juarez chapo is now at the cefereso number 9, which is in samalayuca. that’s just south of juarez. he was sent there from the maximum-security altiplano prison el chapo has already pulled off two escapes from prison – once in 2001 and then again in 2015. this comes months after being recaptured and held in the same prison he broke out of last year. abc’s matt gutman has more. this morning – joaquin “e chapo” guzman, is waking up within tunneling distance of the us? mexican media saying this new video shows the world’s most notorious drug boss being led shackled from a plane to a waiting helicopter in ciudad juarez. the capture just months after they recaptured the narco king. brad garrett, former fbi agent: “if were in charge of el chapo’s security – i wouldn’t tell anybody anything because the idea of an armed group trying to break him free is very realistic.” mexican authorities said he’d been taken from this supermax near mexico city overnight citing the need to beef up security there. nats – bang bang then in january ? mexican marines raided this safe house nats – boom! as his henchmen provided cover fire… he tried to escape?.slipping into this secret tunnel gutman su: “we’re gonna go down this passage way which is flooded” el chapo then duckin into the sewers. the marines finally captured him?but his knack for prison breaks is one reason the us department of justice has been pushing so hard to extradite el chapo to the us. here he faces a multitude of charges including murder, kidnapping and drug trafficking. for good morning america?matt gutman?abc news?los angeles two buses and a fuel tanker collided early this morning on a major highway in afghanistan, killing 52 people. according to officials another 73 people who had been on the buses were wounded in the accident, which set all three vehicles ablaze. some of the injured were transferred to local hospitals. the collision happened on the main highway linking the capital, kabul, to the southern city of kandahar. road accidents are common in afghanistan, where roads are often in poor condition and traffic laws are rarely enforced. a raging wildfire is continuing to spread in the western canadian province of alberta. authorities were expecting the blaze to grow in its northeastern sector, meaning a high possibility the fire would reach the neighbouring saskatchewan border as saturday evening progressed. the blaze now covers more than 3 hundred 85 thousand acres and officials said extreme fire conditions will persist for the next two days. …stormtrack weather now! let’s get your first forecast with stormtracker iris lopez there’s now a new candidate in the district two city council seat. larry romero held the seat before he resigned citing health issues after council seat. larry romero held the seat before he resigned citing health issues after he suffered a stroke in february. romero was the target of an ethics investigation. thunder gfx results show jim tolbert–received more than 59.9% of the vote or 1,132 votes out of 24 precints. tolbert ran usuccessfuly against larry romero in 2013. eight candidates were vying for the position. rene abilez, cemelli de aztlan, angel del toro. dolores garcia baca, abraham monteros, david nevarez, gordon ray thatcher, and tolbert. abc-7’s jerry najera has our complete coverage of the election. i’m here at deweys corner pub where jim tolbert held his campaign party and i say held because he called it night if you romero back in 2013 tolbert lost the district 2 race to larry romero. tolbert tells me as he was race to larry romero. tolbert tells me as he was campaigning he still found the support of those people who voted for him back then but he also told me he talked to many romero supporters that were ready to see a change in their district. earlier we asked tolbert what his plans were once he stepped into office. “we got to start focusing on some of the real issues.. it’s time to get things moving again” th certified results will be ready from the county elections administrator monday may 16th tolbert could be sworn in and take office with two weeks following those results. despite the tax increase in tornillo, voters overwhelmingly voted to approve a $10 million bond for the tornillo independent school district. thunder gfx final election results show out of two precints, the bond passed by more than 71% and 149 votes. with 60 votes against or more than 28%. the bond is to upgrade schools and improve athletics. the money will go towards new roofing, heating and cooling for t-i- s-d’s four schools it would also help makes schools accessible for people with disabilities the district also wants to build a new track and field and tennis court with lights – a field house and bleachers. the bond will raise the tax rate from 21 cents per $100 of home valuation, to 31 cents. that means the average homeowner of a $47- thousand home would pay $23 per month, which is about $2 more a month. for all the latest on election results, you can go to kvia dot. com. you’ll find the results for el paso’s district 2, the tornillo bond and the results for anthony’s town council as well as the results for the el paso county water improvement district no. 1. soon – hundreds of seniors will be crossing the stage and enter into the real world by graduting from high school… and that next step in life can be stressful!
