County planning to make deadly private road safer
Four people have died in accidents on a privately owned road in far East El Paso in less than four months.
The sharps turns on Jobe Road have led to the two deadly crashes. County Commissioner Vince Perez says the road wasn’t meant to handle high speeds, rather it was designed to accommodate cement trucks.
The road is owned by CEMEX, a multinational building materials company Since it is privately owned, it does not have to have street lights, warning signs or speed limit signs.
The county says something needs to be done and plans on meeting with CEMEX to devise a plan.
CEMEX has not responded to our calls.
