Police investigating a shooting involving an EPPD officer in Northeast EP
The Crimes Against Persons Unit is investigating a shooting involving an El Paso police officer in northeast El Paso.
Police told ABC-7 a woman called them at about 10:40 a.m. Monday to report what police called a domestic abuse situation. The woman said a man she was with fired a gun inside the home located on the 10900 block of Dizzy Dean.
Police said officers arrived at the home and asked the man to come out. When the man exited the home, he was holding a handgun.
Two officers fired their guns, wounding the man.
Police said the man was taken to University Medical Center, but did not have an update on his condition.
Neither the woman inside the home nor the officers were injured. The relationship between the man shot and the woman is not known.
A police spokesman said the officers will be placed on paid administrative leave pending the investigation.
