Chihuahuas beat Omaha in series opener Friday
OMAHA, NE – The El Paso Chihuahuas broke a ninth-inning tie and beat the Omaha Storm Chasers 3-2 Friday night at Werner Park. El Paso has won four of its five games on the current road trip.
Alex Dickerson hit a single to right field in the fourth inning, extending his hitting streak to 25 games, the longest active streak in professional baseball. The next batter, Hunter Renfroe, hit a two-run home run to left field, his 10 th longball of the season.
El Paso’s 2-0 advantage held until the eighth, when Omaha’s Jorge Bonifacio hit a game-tying two-run home run. The Chihuahuas went ahead shortly thereafter, when Travis Snider misplayed Renfroe’s single to left field in the top of the ninth, allowing Dickerson to score from first base.
Daniel McCutchen pitched six shutout innings in Friday’s win. Carlos Asuaje went 2-for-4, his third straight multi-hit game.
