EPISD Planetarium to move locations; Will equipment move with it?
Inside the EPISD Planetarium sits pictures of galaxies and stars along with mock space equipment.
It’s a place for parents to take their children to have fun learning about astronomy.
The district has been leasing its headquarters from the city, along with the Planetarium, but the city isn’t renewing the lease because it wants to develop the land near the airport.
Until new office space is found, it’s not certain what will become of the Planetarium.
Items inside the facility may or may not be moved to the new office or another location.
Among the movable items is a big projector that displayed stars across the Planetariums theater.
But the ceiling will probably be destroyed when the building is demolished.
According to EPISD Spokeswoman, Melissa Martinez, whether or not the equipment will be moved along with the building is still being worked out depending on where the Planetarium is located at, but the plan has been to continue the Planetarium, to reopen it at a new location.
The Planetarium is closed as part of its normal schedule until June 13th.
