El Paso teenager killed in car crash near Hatch, New Mexico
Brittany Ruiz, 15, of El Paso, was killed in a single-vehicle rollover on I-25 near Hatch, New Mexico State Police said.
The crash happened Monday, May 30, 2016 around 8:30 p.m.
According to police, the driver of the vehicle was heading south on the freeway, lost control of the vehicle, and rolled before crashing into a tree.
The driver and front passenger were wearing seat belts and sustained minor injuries.
Ruiz, riding in the back, was not wearing a seat belt and “sustained fatal injuries,” state police said.
Police did not say whether charges would be filed against the driver.
