Complaint Affidavit: Man raped 8-year-old girl on her birthday

Investigators with the police department say there may be more victims linked to a man accused of raping an 8-year-old girl.

Edward Alvarado, 35, of the 300 block of De Vargas Drive, is charged with Aggravated Sexual Assault of a Child. Police arrested Alvarado Thursday June 16th and booked him into the El Paso County Jail on a $200,000 bond.

Alvarado allegedly raped the victim several times in between June 1, 2015 and July 31, 2015, police said. A complaint affidavit obtained by ABC-7 states one of the dates Alvarado allegedly raped the girl happened to be the victim’s birthday.

The victim told investigators Alvarado raped her inside his bedroom several times, the complaint affidavit states.

Court records dug up by the ABC-7 I-Team state Alvarado was indicted on two charges of Aggravated Assault Causing Bodily Injury in 2014 and 2015.

In 2013, Alvarado was indicted on a charge of Interfering with an Emergency Call. The documents indicate the three cases are related and Alvarado is due in court next month.
