NMSU hires Miranda King as new diving coach

LAS CRUCES, N.M. –New Mexico State swimming and diving coach Rich Pratt announced onFridaythe addition of Miranda King to his staff. King, who has spent the last two years at Ponoma-Pitzer College, will coach the divers at NM State.

“We are thrilled to have Coach King join our staff,” said Pratt. “Miranda has the professionalism and integrity to be an excellent role model and mentor to our student-athletes. Her experiences as a diver, along with her work with Pomona-Pitzer and Turn N Burn Diving, have provided her great knowledge of the sport. She is going to help our strong diving program really take off.”

“I am thrilled with the opportunity to coach here at NM State,” said King. “I am looking forward to working with the team and coaching staff this season, as we continue building the Aggie diving program.”

At Pomona-Pitzer, King coached the divers on both the men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams. During her time with the Sagehens, King coached two divers who qualified for the NCAA Division III Regionals.In addition to her collegiate coaching duties, King was also the assistant diving coach of the Turn N Burn Diving club team. She also has spent the last three years coaching high school divers.

A two-time All-American, King competed as a diver at California Baptist University for four years. While at CBU, she was a member of the 2011 NAIA National Champion team as a freshman before the team began the transition to NCAA Division II. Her senior year, after the two-year transition, she qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Nationals. King received her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from CBU in 2013.

King, a Murrieta, Calif. native, is currently working on earning her teaching credential from California Baptist.
