Huge blaze in Lower Valley causes $100K in damage
Update: A spokesman with the El Paso Police Department says the second alarm fire destroyed 65 percent of the business and caused $100,000 in damage.
Firefighters were called to the 800 block of Winn Road around 4:30 p.m. when business employees saw smoke and called 911.
Crews arrived on the scene about 20 minutes after the call came in. Crews found heavy flames and smoke coming from multiple trailers inside the business.
Firefighters began to simultaneously fight the fire and search for the employees of the business, but the employees had self-evacuated.
A total of 19 units and 47 firefighters responded to the fire on the 800 block of Winn Road.
There’s been no word yet on what caused the fire.
Original story: Firefighters say a huge blaze in a neighborhood southeast of the Zaragoza Port of Entry is under control.
The “Condition 4” blaze was reported at a property on the 800 block of Winn Road at about 5:40 p.m.
The property is in El Paso’s Lower Valley in area just outside the Socorro city limits.
