victim in the bathroom and recovered the gun, after that, the procedure for clearing the building and found one young lady who had been shot and we had one student who had been shot and one victim with a …which turned out to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.” the alpine community in shock after a shooting at a high school. this is video from k-w-e-s in midland/ odessa. a 14-year old freshman is dead after sheriff’s deputies say she shot another student — then turned the gun on herself. good afternoon and thank you for joing us on-air, online and on your mobile — for abc-7 at four. i’m stephanie guadian. let’s get right to the latest on the texas high school shooting. it happened just before 9 this morning at alpine high school. alpine is about 220 miles southeast of el paso. students were immediately evacuated from the school after shots were fired. officials say a 14-year old student shot and injured a female student. the 14- year-old died of an apparent self- inflicted gunshot wound. her name hasn’t been released. the victim was hospitalized and is in stable condition, her injuries aren’t life threatening. alpine was also dealing with a series of bomb threats at sul ross university, a local motel and hospital that authorities believe are unrelated. law enforcement officers from midland/odessa, fort stockton and el paso officers are assisting. abc-7’s evan folan joins us live from alpine with the very latest evan… just inside that school behind me is where a 14-year-old girl opened fire on a fellow classmate. on our way to alpine – brewster county sheriff ronny dodson held a news conference. i was able to listen in via live stream from kwes in midland – and we learned more information on the shooting – along with other threats made to the community. sheriff dodson saying the 14-year-old shooter was not from alpine and had only lived in the town for about 6 months. investigators say the shooter opened fired on a classmate inside one of the hallways of the high school before turning the gun on herself. a total of five shots were fired. her body was later found inside a bathroom. the victim’s injuries were not life threatening . sheriff dodson says investigators found a semi-automatic pistol next to her body – with ammunition but did not say how many rounds… he did say that this incident could have been quote: “a lot worse.” meanwhile – that investigation has been interrupted by a series of threats made to the town… the sheriff saying a unknown man threatened to bomb sul ross state university which is two miles away from alpine high school. and another call was made – sheriff dodson saying most likely by the same guy – threatening to shoot up a local hospital. although the sheriff believes these are empty threats – he says they are taking them very seriously. we will have more details on the shooter and the ongoing investigation of a series of threats in our later newscast. in alpine texas edf abc-7. thanks evan … he’s also learned a homeland security officer was injuried while responding to the school shooting. officials say the officer was shot when a u-s marshall accidentally discharged his weapon. we will get more details from evan at 5. …to stormtrack weather
