City approves contract amendment for phase 1 of Eastside Sports Complex
City Council Tuesday approved a contract amendment establishing the “guaranteed maximum price” at $8.6 million for construction of the first phase of an 80-acre Eastside Sports Complex.
“What we did today, or what council did today is award the guaranteed maximum price. that sets exactly what it says, the guaranteed maximum price for the project in terms of the construction phase of the project,” said Director of Aviation, Monica Lombrana. Lombrana is the city’s former Capital Improvements department director.
The complex will be located in Far East El Paso near the intersection of Montwood and John Hayes. Phase one includes the development 42.2 acres of land, which will include the following services and amenities:
7 sodded irrigated competition flat fields, and 1 championship style field Shaded seating to accommodate 500 spectators Fencing to maintain control access A new hike and bike trail will be constructed along the perimeter of the park
The complex will also include restrooms compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act, parking, and sidewalks, as well as a sheltered area with picnic tables and benches.
