El Paso police investigating murder downtown

El Paso police officials told ABC-7 that a 19-year-old man was killed after a stabbing.

It happened around 2 a.m. Saturday in the Union Plaza District of Downtown El Paso. The area is home to several bars and clubs.

Police say two large groups of individuals had a verbal altercation at Union Plaza, the altercation then turned physical and the man was stabbed. The man was taken to University Medical Center, where he later died.

Police spokesman Enrique Carrillo told ABC-7 that the Downtown Art and Farmers Market on Anthony Street between W San Francisco and W San Antonio Avenue will be closed today while police investigate.

At this time police say they don’t have any description of any suspects, and no one is in custody.
