Cameasha Turner one of nine finalists for NCAA Woman of the Year
EL PASO, Texas – And then there were nine.
Former UTEP guard Cameasha Turner has been selected as one of nine finalists for the NCAA Woman of the Year award, to be presented Oct. 16 in Indianapolis.
This year there were 517 nominees for the award, a new record. The award recognizes outstanding achievement in athletics, academics, community service, and leadership.
That field of 517 has since been narrowed down to just nine finalists including Turner.
On the court this year, Turner averaged 13.1 points per game to go along with 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals, earning her a selection on the All-Conference USA first team.
Off the court, Turner was involved with multiple organizations including Special Olympics, Let’s SAAC Hunger, and the Children’s Hospital.
She is now studying to get her law degree at Notre Dame in the hopes of one day becoming a judge. She graduated from UTEP with a perfect 4.0 GPA as a criminal justice major with a minor in psychology and legal reasoning.
