Sister of murder victim: ‘If I give him a proper burial, he won’t feel alone’

In September Anthony Trejo was considered by the authorities as a missing person.

A unrelated investigation revealed Trejo was murdered according to court documents obtained by ABC-7.

Anthony Trejo’s sister, Desiree, tells ABC-7 her brother’s body has not been recovered and not only is the family searching for justice but they are also seeking closure.

“I was notified last week that it was a missing case so I didn’t know my brother was missing or anything until Friday,” said Desiree Trejo.

Desiree Trejo is Anthony’s older sister. In her mind she knew something wasn’t right with the disappearance of her brother.

“I was worried right when they told me he was missing. I asked ‘is my brother dead or alive’,” Desiree Trejo said.

Her worst fears were confirmed by El Paso police. Court documents the ABC-7 I-team got hold of, state police spoke to three witnesses who said Anthony was killed …and his body was disposed of in Mexico.

“My family, at first we didn’t believe he passed but now we’ve accepted it and we’re in shock,” Desiree Trejo said.

Now Trejo is only left with memories of a time when she and her brother were younger.

“He was a little brat. He would get on my nerves, I would always beat him up,” Trejo said chuckling.

Trejo says she always knew her brother as a person that was caring, helpful and well liked by many.

“He was a respectful person, he was respectful towards adults, he would always make people laugh,” Trejo said.

The family is looking for justice for Trejo but they say recovering his body would mean even more.

“I want to put him at peace. I just feel like he’s alone out you know? I don’t want him to feel alone. I feel like if I give him a proper burial, he wouldn’t feel alone,” Trejo said.

Trejo’s family will be holding a vigil at Mt. Carmel cemetery at 7 p.m. Friday. They say they don’t want Anthony to be forgotten.
