A northeast El Paso family was rudely awakened for the second time in just over a week

A northeast El Paso family was rudely awakened for the second time in just over a week when another car came crashing onto their property, narrowly missing where the family was sleeping this time.

This crash happened around 5:30 Sunday morning at the intersection of Sun Valley Drive and Menzies Street. An SUV barely missed the RV trailer the family has been staying in while their house is being repaired from the first crash. This morning, the family woke up the a similar scene.

Last Saturday ABC-7 reported that a truck crashed into the bedroom of the northeast home where a woman and her daughter were sleeping. That damage was still covered in plastic sheeting as the latest crashed vehicle came to a stop in the yard just in front of it.

Homeowner Kelly Perkins told ABC-7 she heard a loud crash and a car horn.

“I’m terrified to live here,” Perkins said. “I don’t want to live here. “Every time I go to sleep I’m scared something is going to happen.”

The driver knocked down a tree in the front yard and a guardrail on the sidewalk. Perkins said she’s asked the city repeatedly to step in.

“They say they have no responsibility,” Perkins said, “they’ve done everything they can. That’s what the city’s stance is.”

No one was injured in this latest crash. ABC-7 crews on the scene witnessed a female driver being taken into custody by police.
