Local democrats, republicans weigh in on presidential candidates
A second throw down between Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton took place Sunday night during the second presidential debate. It started off without a handshake between the two candidates as they walked on stage. The format for the debate was a town hall style, from the campus of Washington University in St. Louis. The candidates answered questions from the audience. Within minutes of the debate starting, Trump and Clinton both apologized to the public about their recent scandals. Clinton, for using her family’s private email server for professional business. Trump, for making lewd, degrading comments about women back in 2005. At a democratic watch party, Clinton supporters cheered when the Secretary of State denounced the recordings of Trump. Local Republican Chairman Adolpho Telles tells ABC-7 he agrees the comments are derogatory, but still supports him. Both local El Paso democrats and republicans are standing by their nominees. The third and final debate will take place Oct. 19 in Las Vegas.
