Elderly woman killed in West El Paso crash

A 95-year-old woman died after two vehicles collided on the 6500 block of N. Mesa, police said.

The crash happened shortly before 2 p.m. Thursday, September 29, 2016.

Police said Brenda Guzman, 34, tried making a left turn while heading west on Mesa when she drove into the path of a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by 50-year old Carlos Guzman.

The passengers in Brenda Guzman’s blue Honda Civic were identified as 54-year old Yolanda Guzman; 95-year old Margarita Sanchez Salazar, and a 7-month-old infant.

Sachez Salazar died as a result of the injuries she sustained in the crash, police said.

Brenda Guzman failed to yield the right of way, special traffic investigators said.

This is the 51st traffic fatality of 2016 compared to 41 during this same time period in 2015.
