Instagram photos, Jackman’s tweets fuel speculation “Logan” takes place in Borderland
Hugh Jackman’s posts on social media are fueling speculation the plot for the third, and possibly final, Wolverine movie partly takes place in our region.
The Internet Movie Database describes the premise of “Logan” as “set in the future of 2024, Logan and Professor Charles Xavier must cope with the loss of the X-Men when a corporation lead by Nathaniel Essex is destroying the world leaving it to destruction.”
IMDB goes on to state, “Logan’s healing abilities are slowly fading away and Xavier’s Alzheimer’s forcing him to forget. Logan must defeat Nathaniel Essex with the help of a young girl named Laura Kinney, a female clone of Wolverine.”
Earlier Monday, Jackman posted a photo of a highway sign showing Highway 62 with El Paso seven miles away and the U.S. Mexico border 12 miles away. The image comes from an Instagram account “wponxlogan.”
That same account shows a photo of what appears to be one of the movie’s characters. A sign on a building behind the character states ‘El Paso: Liquor, Beer and Wine.”
KOB in Albuquerque reports some of the film’s scenes were filmed in the Rio Rancho area.
