Low Cost Clinic meant to fight parvo, distemper

The Animal Services Department is sponsoring a low cost microchip, rabies, parvo/distemper vaccine, and licensing clinic this Saturday, October 22.

With Parvovirus and Distemper cases appearing across the borderland, the Animal Services Department wants to help combat these diseases.

The event will be held from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. at the Animal Services Shelter located at 5001 Fred Wilson Avenue.

For this event only, Animal Services will offer all four services (microchip, rabies vaccine, parvo/distemper vaccine, and license) for only $24.

The services will be available on a first come, first served basis; the first 150 animals will be served. Exact cash or check only. Please bring dogs on a leash and have cats contained.

Arrive early to avoid extended wait times. It is anticipated that some residents will begin to form a line prior to the 6 a.m. start time.

According to Animal Services Veterinarian, Dr. Marilyn Christensen, as the temperature begins to decrease in our region this time of year, history has shown that parvovirus and other viruses like distemper begin to appear regularly.
