Guatemalan girl found near Santa Fe Bridge; parents reportedly live in U.S.

Juarez municipal police officers took custody of a nine-year-old girl near the Santa Fe International Bridge.

The girl, reportedly walking alone, told police she is from Guatemala and her name is Fabiana, Mexican official said.

She told investigators a cousin took her to Downtown Juarez, where they planned to meet with the girl’s parents, who are reportedly living in the United States.

Officers took the girl to a police station, where she spoke with a social worker.

Mexican immigration officials will meet with the girl to learn more about her parents and how she arrived in Juarez.
