Morrissey cancels Nov. 23 show in El Paso
Alt Rock icon Morrissey has canceled on El Paso once again.
The singer-songwriter was scheduled to perform at the Abraham Chavez Theater November 23, 2016. The tour was supposed to end in El Paso, but Morrissey decided to perform in Detroit instead.
He also added two additional dates after Detroit in Cleveland and Chicago.
In November 2012, the former Smiths front man canceled a show in El Paso when his mother fell ill.
In February 2013, a Morrissey show in El Paso was canceled due to the singer’s health issues, a bleeding ulcer and Barrett’s esophagus.
In April 2013, Morrissey once again canceled a show in El Paso, this time due to a recent bout of double pneumonia.
In May 2014, the singer performed in El Paso, but walked off stage with his band during the encore.
During “Someday Goodbye Will Be Forever,” the second song of the encore, fans one-by-one climbed the stage and hugged or attempted to hug Morrissey.
About halfway through the song, Morrissey stopped his band, dropped the microphone and walked off, followed by his band.
A Harvest Records publicist told ABC-7 Wednesday afternoon that the El Paso show was stopped because “security was being too rough with his fans, and he got upset about it. Since it was the … encore, he just stopped playing so they wouldn’t get hurt.”
