Bowie, El Dorado clinch shares of district titles on Thursday
Bowie 52 Jefferson 6 Final
Bowie and Jefferson renewed their rivalry on Thursday night at the Sun Bowl, but the Bears quickly proved they were too much for the Silver Foxes. With the win the Bears clinched at least a share of the district title for the first time since 1971. Andress and Chapin also have a chance to claim a share of the title tomorrow. Those two teams will meet at Andress High School for the right to call themselves co-champions of 1-5A. Bowie finished the regular season with a stellar 9-1 record overall and 6-1 mark in district play. Bowie’s lone loss of the season came on October 6th against Chapin.
El Dorado 63 Pebble HIlls 32 Final
El Dorado showcased its full offensive might Thursday night at the SAC, scoring 21 points in a row in the first to put the game out of reach. El Dorado’s head coach, Ruben Torres managed to defeat his brother, Mark Torres, head coach of the Spartans, in the first matchup between the schools at the varsity level. Pebble Hills finished its first varsity year with a 2-8 record. El Dorado’s victory means they clinch at least a share of the 1-6A district crown. The Aztecs finish regular season play with an 8-2 mark and 6-1 record in the league. Montwood and Americas can also both claim a share of the title with wins on Friday, as each team also has only one loss in district action.
