Document: Woman struck boyfriend with chainsaw, stabbed him with kitchen knife

A woman who allegedly kidnapped her boyfriend used a chainsaw to hit the man before stabbing him with a kitchen knife multiple times, a statement of facts states.

Monday, Las Cruces Police arrested Kayla Martinez Bailey, 30, of the 1100 block of Calle De Sol, and charged her with Kidnapping, 11 counts of Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon and two counts of Battery Against a Household Member.

Police said the victim was restrained in the passenger seat of his own vehicle when Martinez Bailey stabbed him.

The attack allegedly before 5:30 p.m. on Monday, November 28th on the 900 block of Calle De Encanto.

Officers found the 23-year-old man inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple stab wounds to his legs and back. The man is expected to recover, police said.

The victim told police they drove to a neighborhood park where Martinez Bailey climbed into the rear passenger seat and allegedly used zip ties to restrain both his arms behind his back.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by ABC-7, after trying up the man, the woman yelled, “take me to them, take me to them.” It’s unclear who she was referring to, but investigators state that’s when the woman allegedly drove to her home and got a chain saw.

The woman then allegedly struck the man twice with the chainsaw then pulled out a kitchen knife and stabbed the man.

As Martinez Bailey drove a block away from her home, she continued to allegedly stab her boyfriend repeatedly, and yelled, “Where are they? You either take me to them or I stab you until you’re dead.”

The criminal complaint also states a passerby was driving to his home on Calle De Encanto when he noticed a some sort of struggle inside a vehicle blocking traffic on the road. Investigators say as the passerby was driving, the man was able to open the car door and yelled “She’s going to kill me, she’s going to kill me.” As the passerby approached and called police, Martinez Bailey allegedly ran away.

Police located Martinez Bailey later that evening as she drove along Calle Jitas near the Dona Ana County Community College East Mesa Campus.

She was booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center where she’s currently being held on a $50,000 cash-only bond.
