NMSU knocks off UTEP 79-68 at Don Haskins Center Tuesday night

The two teams might be headed in completely opposite directions record-wise, but UTEP and New Mexico State collided at the Don Haskins Center Tuesday night, as the Aggies topped the Miners 79-68.

NMSU has now won seven of its last eight meetings against UTEP. The Aggies have also won seven straight ball games this season.

Meanwhile, UTEP dropped to 2-6 on the year after its fifth straight loss.

Omega Harris paced the Miners with 18 points while Dominic Artis added 15 points and nine assists.

But it wasn’t enough as the Aggies managed to open up a 16-point lead at the half before holding on for the 11-point win.

Ian Baker poured in a game-high 20 points for the Aggies. Jemerrio Jones also stuffed the stat sheet, recording a double-double with 18 points and 13 boards.

UTEP used a furious 11-0 run late in the game to make the score line more respectable, but they were not able to complete the comeback.

The Miners will get another shot at the Aggies at the Pan American Center in Las Cruces on Dec. 30.

New Mexico State next travels to Arizona State on Dec. 17, while the Miners will host Northern Arizona that same day.
