Parkland football: Hankins makes all-state team, Wells receives UTEP offer

Parkland football was home to two of the most explosive playmakers in El Paso this past football season.

Now, running back Deion Hankins and defensive lineman Joshua Wells are making more headlines.

Hankins was named to the Associated Press All-State second team on Wednesday after he amassed 2,812 yards rushing during his sophomore campaign.

That number was good enough for the second-highest total in the state of Texas as of Wednesday.

Hankins was actually leading the state in rushing for most of the regular season until his team was eliminated in the second round of the playoffs.

Joshua Wells also had a great statistical season.

He was actually the state-leader in sacks during the regular season, and is currently ranked third in the state, according to MaxPreps.

Wells received an offer to play football at UTEP, according to Parkland head coach Josh Kirkland.

Kirkland tweeted out the following Wednesday afternoon: “Congrats to @JoshuaWells66 picking up a @UTEPAthletics @UTEPFB offer! Couldn’t get a better kid! #Picksup.”

Hankins has also previously received offers from UTEP and Texas Tech.
