State Troopers fire weapons at vehicle’s tires; car chase suspect at large

The suspect in Wednesday morning’s car chase remains at large, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Officials said troopers attempted to pull the driver of a silver Nissan Murano over near Loop 375 and Edgemere.

The driver allegedly failed to stop and troopers were forced to fire their weapons at the vehicle’s tire. DPS officials did not specify exactly where the shots were fired.

A car chase ensued shortly before 3 a.m. and went through several neighborhood streets near Zaragoza, Edgemere, and Montwood, mostly sticking east of Loop 375. A DPS spokesperson tells us that DPS aircraft and the El Paso Police Department assisted in the chase effort.

Texas DPS and EPPD confirm the suspect was able to get away during the chase.

ABC-7 spotted police and state troopers at a house near the intersection of Sun Quest and Sun Cove. At this point, ABC-7 has unconfirmed reports the investigation at the house and the chase are related.
