Elderly woman killed in Las Cruces crash

An elderly woman was killed in a crash in Las Cruces Saturday evening.

It happened around 7:30 P.M Saturday at the corner of South Main Street and Amador Avenue.

Police say a 71-year-old woman was driving southbound on Main Street and another car was driving west on Amador Avenue when the crash happened. It’s unclear what happened, but the woman was taken to UMC where she died. A 10-year-old child in the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital. The child’s condition is unknown.

Police believe distracted driving played a role in the crash.
