Wind rips roof off Vado home

Vado residents are cleaning up after a roof ripped off a mobile home and smashed into another.

It happened Saturday after high winds swept the borderland.

Residents say a woman who is 5 months pregnant and has a two year old son escaped her home after the roof flew off. The entire wall was ripped a part. On Sunday you could see Christmas tree ornaments, broken dishes, even children’s clothing left behind in the ruble. Residents say the roof flew over a mobile home and smashed onto the side of another. It crashed onto two cars and sent a cinder block flying into the home.

“I walked into the kitchen when all of a sudden I heard a boom,” Alicia Arevalo, who was inside her home when the roof hit it, said.

Amazingly, no one was hurt.

“I’m just counting my blessings,” she said.
