Semitruck barrels into three cars at toll booth

CHIHUAHUA, Mexico – A semitruck barreled into three cars waiting in line at a toll booth in Villa Ahumada on Wednesday morning, injuring two people.

El Diario de Juarez reported that the multi-vehicle crash made the semitruck roll over.

Emergency crews rescued two uninjured children among the car’s twisted remains.

“The children had their guardian angel, that’s why nothing happened to them,” said a police officer at the scene.

El Diario de Juarez said the semi’s breaks weren’t working.

The driver was detained and questioned by police.

The accident was reported on the highway from Chihuahua to Ciudad Juarez. Villahumada is almost 100 miles south of El Paso.

First responders treated two people for injuries before taking them to a nearby hospital.
