Massive Motorsports Complex coming to Vado, New Mexico
A multi-purpose, 127 acre Motorsports Complex will be built on state land off I-10 at the Vado exit.
Once it’s built, Southern New Mexico Speedway will close down. Southern New Mexico Speedway General Manager Rue Stone says he’ll transfer over to the Vado location.
Stone says there will be nothing else like it in the western part of the U.S.
“I don’t know of any place, and I’ve been around a lot of dirt tracks, that will have a place that will have a race track, a go cart track, an RC track, sand drags, an amphitheater, an all purpose facility to where the mom and dads, grandmas and grandpas can bring their kids and have family entertainment,” Stone said.
The location, right off the highway, will bring in riders from all over the country and help boost the southern New Mexico and El Paso economy, Stone said.
“I’ve already spoken to the World of Outlaws, they’ll be here in 2018. They travel all over the country including Canada,” Stone said.
Stone says the complex will attract more then just racing. “I’ve already talked to a fair company in Phoenix that does the Arizona State Fair,” Stone said. “Were also figuring out how we can run each week with different shows and events at this facility.”
The complex, expected to include an amphitheater that can sit as many as 5,000 spectators, is expected to be built by 2018, Stone said. A groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held at the beginning of next year.
