Pop star’s reported battle with heroin
New information on the death of singer George Michael.
A new report from British newspaper “The Daily Telegraph” describes Michael’s last year as very dark.
The man closest to him tells the paper Michael was battling a heroin addiction.
The attached photo, courtesy of SPLASH NEWS, is the last public sighting of the singer. Michael is seen with his boyfriend since 2011, Fadi Fawaz.
The photo was published Monday by The Daily Telegraph but it doesn’t say when it was taken.
George Michael, on the right, is almost unrecognizable. The paper reports it’s widely believed Michael was battling a heroin addiction and he was recently treated at a hospital for an overdose.
The Daily telegraph quotes Fawaz as saying, “We were supposed to be going for Christmas lunch.”
“I went round there to wake him up and he was just gone, lying peacefully in bed,” said Fawaz. “We don’t know what happened yet.”
The man who shared a life with Michael for the last five years is quoted by The Daily Telegraph as saying, “everything is ruined.”
“I want people to remember him the way he was – he was a beautiful person,” Fawaz concluded according to the British paper.
An autopsy will be performed before an official cause of death is released. Investigators are calling the 53-year-old’s death unexplained but not suspicious.
British media also reports the former member of Wham! was filming a documentary about his life.
Michael was also about to record a new album due out next year.
