EPISD Superintendent Juan Cabrera receives yearly evaluation

The El Paso Independent School District evaluated Superintendent Juan Cabrera Tuesday evening.

Cabrera was hired in 2013 following a massive cheating scheme within the district.

ABC-7 asked board president Dori Fenenbock if last years goals were met by Cabrera. She said the goals were not only met but exceeded.

Fenenbock also announced there was a major change in goals set forth for Cabrera.

In the past, the superintendents goals were focused on staff, resources, time and money.

The goals set for Cabrera this year involve student outcomes like scoring better, students understanding dual languages, and increasing enrollment in college or vocational certifications.

Cabrera will also be awarded a 15 percent raise in salary.

“His outperforming our expectations for him and his goals. A successful completion of the bond. The consistent passage of balanced budgets, redirecting money from operations to our students learning in the classroom and all meanwhile with a decline in enrollment adding money to our general reserves,” Fenenbock said.

Cabrera will receive a pay increase of a little more than $45,000 this year. His current salary is a little more than $303,000.
