LCPD: Mother, son brutally beat friend over loaned TV

Police charged a mother and son suspected of beating up a friend in a dispute over a television set with one count of aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

47-year-old Deborah K. Seely and her 25-year-old son, Joshua Bazzell-Seely allegedly attacked a 40-year-old woman Saturday January 28, 2017.

Police said the victim was asked to retrieve a television set that had been loaned to her. When Deborah Seely learned the woman sold the TV, Seely allegedly punched the woman, police said.

Detectives learned Joshua Seely allegedly entered the 40-year-old woman’s residence and also proceeded to punch the woman.

The victim sustained severe facial fractures and was transported to a local hospital before being airlifted to University Medical Center of El Paso. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Deborah and Joshua Seely were both booked into the Dona Ana County Detention Center. Joshua Seely posted bond Jan. 29 while Deborah Seely was released on bond Jan. 30.
