Shooting leaves teen hospitalized, police searching for gunman

A shooting in Las Cruces leaves one teen wounded and police still looking for the gunman.

Las Cruces police were called out the the 4200 block of Charles Street in North Las Cruces around 4:30 p.m. Sunday. Police found a teenage boy with a bullet wound to the forearm and transported him to a hospital.

A police spokesperson says some witnesses said the victim was shot as he stood in front of his home, while another witness told police the victim approached a vehicle before being shot.

At this time no one is in custody. Police are looking for a red vehicle with three passengers.

Anyone who may have seen the incident or knows any information are asked to call Las Cruces police.

Officials say the victim is not a gang member; however they are not certain this was not a gang-related shooting.
