Police identify woman who shot man, then killed herself
Police identified the victim in Saturday’s deadly shooting as 42-year-old Luis Ignacio Torres and the shooter as 41-year-old Erika Dominguez.
Police said the man and the woman got into an argument inside a home on the 7900 block of Saggita Saturday afternoon. Dominguez pulled out a gun and shot Torres, police added.
Torres was able to run away, but Dominguez chased him down the street, firing several rounds.
Dominguez chased Torres into a home on the 7900 block of Cassiopeia, where she pointed the gun at a homeowner who tried to distract her while Torres ran away.
Police said Dominguez car-jacked a woman nearby and continued pursuing Torres in the stolen vehicle. A patrol officer arrived in the area of Yarbrough and Santa Maria and encountered Torres, who collapsed in front of the officer’s patrol car.
Dominguez, driving against traffic, stopped, exited the car and stood over the victim with a gun in her hand. The officer ordered Dominguez to drop the gun, but Dominguez allegedly turned the gun onto herself and fired. She died at the scene, police said.
Torres was transported to Del Sol Hospital with life threatening injuries.
Mayela Sepulveda, who told ABC-7 she is Dominguez’s neighbor, witnessed the incident.
“I heard a commotion just with the neighbors and a lot of loud arguing, and then I heard a pop,” Sepulveda said. “Then I saw my neighbor (the shooter) run after him, and just take a shot at him. At that point, I realized there was something going on. It felt like a movie.”
