‘Over the Edge & Into the Fun’ fundraiser

The El Paso Zoological Society (EPZS) invites the public to watch adventurous “edgers” rappel from new heights – 12 stories and nearly 200 feet down – as they go Over the Edge & Into the Fun for the El Paso Zoo from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Saturday, February 18.

ABC-7 at Noon anchor Denise Olivas rappelled over the Anson Mills Building on Friday as part of the fundraiser.

The fundraiser, presented by Western Refining in partnership with the El Paso Parks and Recreation Department, allows “edgers” who have raised $750 to $1,000 to rappel off the Anson Mills Building at 303 N. Oregon St.

Over the Edge is a special events company providing signature events for non-profit organizations anywhere in the world. Business leaders, individuals, and community members raise pledges in exchange for the experience of rappelling down the edge of a prominent local building.

The community is also invited to support the Zoo at a free downtown El Paso Zoo Block Party hosted by the City’s Parks and Recreation department. The block party at San Jacinto Plaza will include food trucks, inflatables, arts and craft vendors, live entertainment, and activities for all ages. Chuco Soul Project will perform at 7:30 p.m.

Funds raised from this event will contribute to EPZS’s support of capital improvement projects and educational conservation programs including field trips for low-income schools. EPZS is a not-for-profit organization supporting the growth and continued success of the El Paso Zoo.
