Hanks hires Aaron Price as new head football coach
Hanks High School officially introduced Aaron Price as the school’s new head football coach and athletic coordinator at a ceremony at the school Wednesday morning.
Aaron Price is the son of former UTEP head football coach Mike Price, and has his own history at UTEP.
He served on the UTEP staff from 2004-2012, including a stint as offensive coordinator.
Price has also coached at Tulane, Idaho State, Cal-Poly, Missouri-Western State, and was most recently at Humboldt State in California.
He inherits a Hanks program that finished the 2016 season with a 0-10 record.
But Price says he has a plan to turn the program around and get the fans excited about the team once again.
“So, first of all, we start with ourselves,” said Price. “We start with the excitement and the energy and the enthusiasm in making a change here. And then we branch out, and people will see that.”
Price says he firmly believes the program can be a shining light in the community.
“As we gain that confidence and that pride in ourselves, then we take it to the community,” he said.
Price said he was drawn to the job here in El Paso due in part to the fact that his mother and father still live here along with his three daughters.
