UTEP beats FAU on the road for 10th win in 12 games
The UTEP Miners escaped with a 60-55 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls Thursday night to improve to 10-5 in Conference USA.
The Miners remain tied for third in the conference after Old Dominion also won Thursday evening.
UTEP did not have a player record more than 12 points against FAU, but did have four players with at least 10 points.
Dominic Artis had 12 points and nine rebounds to lead the Miners to their 10th win in the last 12 games.
The Miners also held the Owls to just 3-19 shooting from downtown in the game.
UTEP trailed by one at the half but surged to a lead early in the second half.
Dominic Artis hit a tough floater in the lane with just over one minute to go to put the Miners up by five.
FAU cut the gap to three, then missed what could have been a game-tying shot from beyond the arc with under 20 seconds to play.
UTEP secured the rebound and Omega Harris found himself open for a dunk, but missed. Luckily for the Miners, the ball went off FAU, allowing the Miners to keep possession and close the game with two free throws.
UTEP will next play Florida International on Saturday in Miami.
