‘Anti-Trump’ sculpture creating a stink at NMSU

A sculpture at New Mexico State University has been creating quite the stink amongst students and faculty.

The sculpture features a body resembling President Donald Trump with a pile of human excrement as his head. The top of the pile is spray-painted gold. The suit worn by the sculpture features a suit made of fake dollar bills, with other bills stuffed in the breast pocket.

The body stands at a podium with a sign that reads “Dump”. A couple of rotten tomatoes adorn the body, with others lying at the bottom of the podium. Behind the sculpture are several signs, one reading “We Shall Overcomb” and another reading “Love Trumps Hate”.

The sculpture is being displayed at NMSU’s Dan W. Williams Hall.

ABC-7 reached out to the students behind the sculpture. Alexxis Ortiz said five students made the sculpture in an intermediate ceramics class.

Ortiz said the assignment given was to make a sculpture, so the students used the opportunity to make a political statement.

Ortiz said the sculpture is made of clay and recyclable items. It went up on Presidents’ Day. They’re hoping to leave it up as long as they can.

Because it is made of clay, the display may only last a month.
