The woman killed in a deadly freeway crash just west of Las Cruces was 54-year-old Kathryn Armijo of Deming, New Mexico State Police said.

The crash happened around 8 p.m. Thursday evening between mile marker 136 and 137.

State police said 52-year-old Felipe Jose Ricardo Johnson, of Apopka, Florida, was heading east in a semi truck when he crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes.

Johnson collided head on with Armijo’s vehicle, state police said. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.
