UTEP on fire as they complete perfect road with win over FIU
UTEP shot a season-high 67.3 percent from the field, including 72 percent in the second half, in continuing its hot streak with a 90-76 victory at FIU on Saturday night.
The Miners (13-15, 11-5 C-USA) are now 11-2 in their last 13 games. UTEP remained tied for third place in Conference USA with Old Dominion (18-10, 11-5), which will come to the Don Haskins Center to start the final, crucial homestand of the regular season on Thursday (March 2) at 6 p.m.
The Miners have knocked off North Texas, Rice, Florida Atlantic and FIU on the road the last two weeks. Now they’ll get a taste of some home cooking as the season winds down, with a lot at stake. After the Old Dominion game, the Miners will host Charlotte on Saturday (March 4) at 1 p.m. for Dominic Artis’ “Senior Day.”
UTEP finished 5-4 in C-USA road games, marking the sixth time it has fashioned a winning mark away from home since joining the league in 2005. The Miners’ five-game C-USA road winning streak ties the third-longest in school history.
