Man charged with murder after Northeast shooting

Police have charged a man with murder after a shooting in Northeast El Paso Friday night.

The shooting happened Friday around 6:15 p.m. on the 5000 block of Pikes Peak, near Diana Drive.

Police tell ABC-7 45-year-old John Casto and 46-year-old Marco Moncada were in the backyard of Moncada’s home when they got into a verbal argument. Police say Casto pulled out a revolver handgun and shot Moncada several times.

Casto then called police and said Moncada had attacked him with a knife.

Moncada was taken to University Medical Center for treatment, where he died. Casto was charged with murder and booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility under an $850,000 bond.
