Garth Brooks in Las Cruces: Road Closures and Parking Tips

The Las Cruces Police Department will be working with New Mexico State University Police to monitor traffic this weekend during the five concert performances by country music artist Garth Brooks.

No specific road closures are planned for the 7 p.m. concert on Friday, April 7.

However, on Saturday, April 8, and Sunday, April 9, when the Pan American Center is hosting 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. shows each day, police will strictly enforce road closures to help direct concert-goers to and from the venue.

University Avenue, between Solano Drive to Las Alturas Drive, will be closed to through-traffic from 11:30 a.m.to 11 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Only concert-goers will be allowed on University Avenue and will be directed to designated parking lots. Crossroad traffic between Solano and Las Alturas will be directed away from the Pan American Center.

I-25 North and South – 3 p.m. shows: Concert-goers exiting University Avenue will be directed to either University Avenue onto campus, or east to Las Alturas Avenue and south to Geothermal Drive and into the parking lots near the Pan Am.

I-25 North and South – 7 p.m. shows: Concert-goers traveling exiting University Avenue will be directed to Geothermal Drive and into the parking lots near Aggie Memorial Stadium.

I-10 East and I-10 West: Concert-goers exiting University Avenue from I-10 should consider taking Sam Steel Way or Espina Street onto campus.

Concert-goers familiar with the NMSU campus may wish to consider parking in lots a short distance away from the Pan Am:

— Lots 3 and 4 near Skeen Hall and near the intersection of University and Espina.
— Lot 16 on Jordan Street near the Barnes and Noble bookstore.
— Lots 86, 87 and 88 near Aggie Memorial Stadium for the 7 p.m. shows on Saturday and Sunday.

Concert-goers are advised to:

— Carpool or use a ride-sharing service such as Uber, Lyft or taxicab.
— Arrive early and follow directions from uniformed officers and parking attendants.
— Use caution when driving in and out of parking lots as there will be heavy pedestrian traffic.
— Leave RVs at home. NMSU is not allowing RVs into campus parking lots.
— Leave pets at home and not in parked vehicles.
— Use a designated driver if alcohol is consumed.
