4 candidates have filed to run for Niland’s City Council seat

ABC-7 confirmed that four candidates have filed paperwork to run for the District 8 City Council seat that will soon be vacated by Rep. Cortney Niland.

The filing period began Tuesday after City Council voted to hold the election June 5, the day designated for possible runoffs. The last day to file is May 1.

The four candidates that have already filed are former Mayoral candidate Robert Cormell, Duranguito resident and property owner Gilbert Guillen, former school teacher Cissy Lizarraga, wife of Judge Marcos Lizarraga, and local attorney Adolfo Lopez, who previously ran for state representative.

ABC-7 is speaking with all of the candidates that have emerged to this point on Wednesday and will have more online and in upcoming newscasts.
