Chihuahuas can’t overcome slow start in loss to Reno Sunday
The El Paso Chihuahuas fell to 8-10 on the season after losing at home Sunday afternoon to the Reno Aces.
The Aces started off hot, scoring four runs in the top of the first. They wouldn’t score again, but it didn’t matter, as they held on for a 4-3 victory to improve to 10-8.
The Chihuahuas found themselves down 4-1 in the bottom of the sixth inning when Jabari Blash hit a two-run home run to cut the deficit to 4-3.
But the Chihuahuas were unable to score again, despite threatening in the eighth inning with runners on second and third.
Jamie Romak went 1-3 for the Dogs, but did not hit a home run for the first time in four games.
The Chihuahuas and Aces have split the first two games of their four-game series.
The two teams will meet again on Monday at 6:35 p.m. at Southwest University Park.
