Chihuahuas suffer 12-1 defeat against Reno Monday night
The Reno Aces jumped out to a quick 9-0 lead over the Chihuahuas in the fourth inning and never looked back en route to a 12-1 victory Monday night at Southwest University Park.
The Aces tallied 18 hits in their win and scored five runs in the first inning alone – the second straight game in which they’ve scored at least four runs in the first.
The Chihuahuas fell to 8-11 on the season with the loss and have now lost four of their last five.
Ketel Marte nearly recorded a cycle for the Aces, going 4-6 on the evening. He only needed a home run to complete the cycle and nearly hit one, but the ball bounced of the top of the wall, and Marte had to settle for his second double of the game.
Former Chihuahua Raymond Fuentes torched his old team with three base hits and three RBI as well.
The lone bright spot for the Chihuahuas was the performance of Rocky Gale, who went 3-4 with a double Monday night.
The Chihuahuas and Aces will meet Tuesday night at Southwest University Park at 6:35 for the final game in their four-game series. The Aces have taken two of the first three so far.
