I-10 overpasses downtown to close Monday

As work continues on the El Paso Streetcar Project, new closures that begin Monday could make it challenging for commuters.

Stanton Street and Oregon Street will close to traffic between Yandell Drive and Wyoming Ave. for eight weeks.

Those are the portions of Stanton and Oregon that go over Interstate 10.

The Camino Real Regional Mobile Authority said the closures are needed so crews can bolt the tracks to the concrete.

Drivers will also see lane restrictions on Yandell and Wyoming.

Officials encourage drivers to use freeway exits before getting to Downtown.

The CCRMA will place track along the 4.8 mile route and include 27 stops once it’s complete.

In a statement, the CRRMA released the following recommended detours:

From West El Paso and Upper Valley:

I-10 Exit 16/Executive Center Boulevard to Paisano Drive into Downtown.
I-10 Exit 18B/Franklin Avenue to Durango Street

From East El Paso, Central El Paso and Mission Valley:
