Slain Border Patrol agent honored at BP ceremony

Since 2003, 31 Border Patrol agents have died in the line of duty.

U.S. Customs and Border Protection in the El Paso sector honored the men and women who lost their lives while protecting our nation at the National Border Patrol Museum.

Sadly, this year we must add four names to our memorial wall and yesterday we learned the loss of another agent,” said Joe Reyes with the Border Patrol.

This in attendance held a moment of silence for slain agent Isaac Morales, stabbed and killed outside a Far East El Paso bar. Morales was off-duty when he was assaulted.

Police charged Hisaias Justo Lopez, 39, with Murder. Lopez allegedly stabbed Morales in the eye after a confrontation outside the bar.

127 agents have died in the line of duty since the Border Patrol’s inception in 1924.

“Working on the border is a dangerous business and we are here today to bear witness to the sacrifice that these agents have made in protection our nation,” Reyes said, “Be grateful this country has these types of men and women serving and protecting our nation everyday all day.”
