Chapin softball falls in game one against Canyon

The Chapin softball team will now have to win two games in a row against Canyon to advance to the Final Four.

Canyon defeated Chapin by a score of 5-1 Thursday night to take a 1-0 series lead in the Region I championship.

The Eagles broke open the game early with two quick home runs to take a 3-0 lead.

The Huskies were able to keep a high-powered Eagles team in check most of the night. However, the Huskies themselves couldn’t get their offense going.

Kristin Fifield provided the lone Chapin run via a solo homer.

Canyon and Chapin will meet for game two Friday in Seminole at 10 a.m. MT with a possible third game to follow at the same time on Saturday.

Chapin is currently ranked as the number four team in Class 5A, while Canyon is ranked third.
