UTEP recruit Trey Wade ready to contribute after sitting out last season
UTEP has another dynamic player to its basketball roster with shooting guard Trey Wade.
The 6-5, 180-pound Wade hails from South Cobb High School in Austell, Ga.
He averaged 19.1 points and 7.5 rebounds a game as a senior in his 2015-16 season and shot 48 percent from the field.
Wade had to sit out this past season because of his grades.
He said it was tough having to watch the Miners from the stands, but now he’s ready to contribute.
“It was an opportunity for me to get my grades together, it was a big year for me academically but also for me to get my game better,” Wade said.
Wade says his athleticism is his biggest strength, “I think getting up and down the floor and being able to shoot the ball at my size is going to be the thing that I like.”
Wade is also looking forward to playing alongside UTEP senior guard Omega Harris, “We play together in open gym. We know how to find each other, he finds me and I think we will be able to work together really good,” Wade said.
